Dixuan Yujing Chen, Ph.D., is an ordained Buddhist nun and Assistant Professor of East Asian Religions at Grinnell College, Iowa. She holds an M.A. from the Religion Department of the National Cheng-Chi University in Taiwan, and a Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies from the Religion Department at the University of Florida. Her dissertation investigated how Chinese dominant social norms and assorted political reasons were interwoven with beliefs and practices centered on Medicine Master Buddha (Bhaisajyaguru Buddha) from the sixth to the tenth century. She is currently exploring Buddhist healing concepts, meditation, and rituals. Her courses include East Asian Religions, Zen Buddhism, Women & Religion, as well as Religion, Healing & Health.
