About Michael Koppel

Michael Koppel is Howard Chandler Robbins Professor of Pastoral Theology and Congregational Care, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Michael has served as pastor, campus minister, clinical educator, hospice chaplain, and youth minister. He enjoys biking, hiking, and swimming.

He is author and/or editor of: Body Connections:Body-based Spiritual Care (under contract with Abingdon Press); Bridging the Divide between Bible and Practical Theology, co-edited with Denise Domkowski Hopkins (Cambridge Scholars, 2018); Grounded in the Living Word: The Hebrew Bible and Pastoral Care Practices, co-authored with Denise Dombkowski Hopkins (Eerdmans, 2010); Open-Hearted Ministry: Play as Key to Pastoral Leadership (Fortress, 2008).
