Sufia Mendez Uddin, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, Connecticut College. Sufia lives on the Connecticut shoreline with her husband, Sunil, and two children, Mira and Mahir. Sufia is the author of Constructing Bangladesh: Religion, Ethnicity, and Language in an Islamic Nation (UNC Press 2006). She is currently working on a digital project about the veneration of Bonbibi in the Sundarbans. This project brings attention to the struggles of some of the poorest Muslims and Hindus who look to Bonbibi for protection in the fragile mangrove forest.
