Charles David Isbell holds five university degrees including the Ph.D. from Brandeis University. He is the author of ten books and over 300 articles, including major works on Aramaic and Hebrew language, Biblical and Rabbinic literature, Jewish liturgy, and Jewish-Christian interpretation of sacred texts. Before his appointment to the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at LSU in 1998, Isbell held posts at U. of Massachusetts and the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit.
