About Gwendolyn Gillson

Gwendolyn Gillson is Assistant Professor of Asian Studies at Illinois College where she teaches global awareness through courses on culture, gender, and lived religion, particularly in East Asia. Her ethnographic research focuses on how contemporary Japanese Buddhist women craft deep and meaningful connections with each other through affect and aesthetics in order to combat the social challenges endemic to Japanese life today.
